We’re looking at toasting to a healthy and happy New year 2020 and it seems like it was yesterday. Coronavirus was still far away in China and we didn’t pay much attention to it.

A little over two months later and we are facing its actual severity. COVID-19 is not only posing a great threat to public health, but it is already starting to have an immense impact on the world economy as well. It is remarkable how such an unbelievably small biological entity can and will affect each and every aspect of our lives in an unimaginable dimension.

Numerous great conferences, summits, tradeshows, and other agricultural events have been either cancelled or postponed. But with the current levels of concern and uncertainty over the COVID-19 it is in the best interest of us all to avoid any face-to-face meetings. We are saddened by the fact we won’t be able to meet you in person in the next few weeks but Pessl Instruments team is, no matter what, always at your disposal.

“At the beginning of January 2020, we had a little to no clue about the new virus discovery. No one imagined it could be followed by impacts and disruptions that will change the global reality in less than 45 days,” starts explaining his concerns our CEO and Founder, Mr. Gottfried Pessl.“Suddenly we have to refrain from travelling, all international gatherings like seminars, tradeshows and conferences are cancelled, anyone coming from focal points of Coronavirus is ordered a 14-day quarantine, restaurants, tourist agencies, theatres are closing down. All social gatherings are being cancelled. It is only a question of time when the factories will start closing their doors, too.” But despite the current situation he encourages everyone to find a way to adjust to the current situation:“We shouldn’t underestimate the seriousness of the current situation, but each new crisis can act as a new opportunity. We believe that the power of technology will now come to the fore even more. We are a strong team, with a great passion for agriculture and will not let our fellow farmers, clients, partners down. We understand your distress and stand by your side in the current situation.«

Will the Coronavirus affect the working process at Pessl Instruments?

Our work processes will continue as usual and we will make sure that they are intact. But even though Pessl Instruments’ production, logistics, and packaging will continue to work without disturbance, we can expect some delays in the supply chain. Therefore, we encourage you to order your tools in time before the new season starts. Despite the Coronavirus, mother nature will not wait for it to pass.

We pay much attention to the well-being of our employees and therefore decided to enable them to work remotely until necessary. Home office to some extent is already standard practice at Pessl Instruments and we encourage other companies to allow their team to work remotely as well. Don’t measure efficiency in hours spent at the office but how much work was invested in those hours.
