Pessl Instruments has been serving growers, researchers and managers in 85 countries for more than 40 years. We help them with customizable precision agriculture hardware and software solutions which cover all needs, pain points and challenges that boots on the ground face in their everyday work and we are proud to make the burden of decision making a bit lighter.
Founded in 1984, Pessl Instruments became a leading manufacturer and developer in smart technology agriculture on all continents. A complete range of wireless, solar-powered monitoring systems under METOS® brand and app FieldClimate, which was born in 2005 as the first-ever web platform for collecting and displaying agro-meteorological data, became an indispensable partner of every farmer who uses them.

2024 – LINDSAY, iSCOUT® Mobile, SpaceCrop, Agritask, and Awards
Lindsay Announced Agreement to Acquire a Minority Interest in Pessl Instruments.
A new iSCOUT Mobile® app was created to combine digital and manual trapping techniques effortlessly.
Metos Italia Srl has been awarded the prestigious Silver Leaf Award for DropSight®.
New partnership agreement was signed between SpaceCrop and METOS Magyarország!
Agritask and Pessl Instruments announced their partnership to integrate METOS® weather stations into the Agritask platform.
2023 – Yield Prediction, Global FieldID™, Golden Jury Award, and other news
New tools and products were introduced – Yield Prediction Tool, DropSight®, Sowing Window Tool, Extreme Temperature Monitoring Tool, N-Pilot®, History & Climate page.
Pessl Instruments GmbH consolidated ownership over METOS® Canada distribution and METOS® Colombia was established.
Partherships were signed with Varda’s Global FieldID™, Lindsay, SAS Agro, DropSight, Borealis L.A.T, Raisins SA, and PepsiCo SA.
METOS POLSKA Sp. o.o. has been awarded the prestigious Golden Jury Award in the “Machinery, Equipment, and Services for Agriculture” category for FieldClimate.

2021 – TEAM GROWTH, DAVIS INSTRUMENTS, xarvio®
Pessl Instruments team grows – joined by business growth, agronomy, engineering, IoT technology, and marketing experts. Partnership with Davis Instruments and xarvio® by BASF is signed.
2020 – EIMA AWARD, METOS® SHOP, AND PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS
Pessl Instruments is awarded an EIMA mention award for Digital Plant Protection. FieldClimate v-2 for the Android operating system is launched. New partnerships are announced (ADAMA, Manna Irrigation, Microsoft Azure). Pessl Instruments introduces an online webshop – METOS® SHOP. miniMETOS is added to the portfolio.
2019 – 35 YEARS OF PESSL INSTRUMENTS, VIRTUAL WEATHER STATIONS, LoRAIN Pessl Instruments celebrates 35 years of establishment. It presents a new generation of weather stations -LoRAIN. Virtual weather stations are introduced to the market. Mobile application FieldClimate version 2 for iOS is launched.
2018 – INSECT RECOGNITION AND COOPERATION WITH JOHN DEERE iSCOUT® – Optical high-resolution camera system for insect recognition is embedded inside insect trap, to remotely monitor insect pressure at fields. The beginning of cooperation with John Deere – the integration of hardware for John Deere Operations Center.
2017 – THE NEW WEB PRESENCE AND COOPERATION WITH SAP Pessl Instruments online platform – FieldClimate gets the new look and feel, as well as other online and mobile applications. The beginning of cooperation with SAP – integration of METOS® to SAP Leonardo platform. The beginning of cooperation with Inmarsat.
2016 – THE LPWAN (NB-IoT and LoRa) The beginning of a collaboration with Huawei and Vodafone as the first company from the agricultural sector to work on NB-IoT. The beginning of the development of other LPWAN connectivity solutions.
2015 – 10 YEARS OF VIRAL iMETOS Flagship product iMETOS and FieldClimate celebrate 10 years. An intelligent irrigation controller ICA WIRELESS is introduced to the market. Pessl Instruments receives investment from private equity company Mountain Cleantech from Switzerland and marks the beginning of ‘New Pessl Instruments’.
2014 – CropVIEW®, µMETOS Blue; iMETEO Pro Pessl Instruments buys the majority shares in a USA distribution company (Morph20AG). CropVIEW®, the high-resolution remote crop image monitoring with RECIM technology is launched. Pessl Instruments celebrates 30 years of existence. Legacy brand µMETOS Blue with Bluetooth and modern apps and Internet connectivity is re-launched. iMETEO Pro, a completely new concept of the localized microclimatic weather forecast, crop and animal management and disease outbreak alerts based on online subscription revolutionizes the market.

2011 – iMETOS ECO D2 iMETOS ECO D2 is launched as low cost powerful logger for soil moisture, frost warning, meter reading and rain.
2010 – iMETOS ICA iMETOS ICA, an automatic irrigation controller is developed and irrigation system gets automated intelligently via soil moisture readings.
2009 – T-monitor Pessl Instruments celebrates 25 years and launches the T-monitor for silo and grain storage monitoring.
2006 – IRRIGATION MANAGEMENT & SOIL MOISTURE New software and decision support system for irrigation management are launched. New soil moisture sensors are supported.
2005 – GOING ONLINE – FieldClimate.com THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP: METOS® goes online and creates FieldClimate. iMETOS is born and GPRS is used to transmit the data to the platform automatically and continuously.

Before we installed the stations we treated every field the same. Now, we know that we can have a 20mm difference in rainfall in fields only 2.5 miles apart and that our fields vary in how each crop responds to water uptake.
