respons\u00e1veis pelo o\u00eddio nas cucurbit\u00e1ceas, com <em>Podosphaera xanthii<\/em> e <em>Erysiphe cichoracearum<\/em> sendo os agentes patog\u00e9nicos mais significativos. Historicamente, <em>E. cichoracearum<\/em> foi considerado o principal agente causal a n\u00edvel mundial at\u00e9 1958. No entanto, <em>P. xanthii<\/em> tornou-se a esp\u00e9cie mais prevalente associada ao o\u00eddio das cucurbit\u00e1ceas a n\u00edvel mundial. <em>E. cichoracearum<\/em> prospera tipicamente em condi\u00e7\u00f5es mais frescas, como na primavera e no in\u00edcio do ver\u00e3o, enquanto <em>P. xanthii<\/em> prolifera mais eficazmente durante os meses mais quentes. Al\u00e9m disso, <em>P. xanthii<\/em> parece ser mais agressivo do que <em>E. cichoracearum<\/em>. Embora a distin\u00e7\u00e3o entre os con\u00eddios destas duas esp\u00e9cies possa ser dif\u00edcil, a presen\u00e7a de corpos de fibrosina nos con\u00eddios de <em>P. xanthii<\/em> constitui um crit\u00e9rio fundamental para determinar ambos.<\/p><p>Os fungos do o\u00eddio reproduzem-se atrav\u00e9s da reprodu\u00e7\u00e3o assexuada e sexual.<\/p><p>Por via assexuada, os con\u00eddios (esporos assexuados) pousam numa planta hospedeira, onde germinam e produzem um apress\u00f3rio e um haust\u00f3rio para extrair nutrientes da planta. Os conidi\u00f3foros emergem das hifas e produzem novos con\u00eddios, dispersos pelo vento, espalhando a infe\u00e7\u00e3o. O per\u00edodo de incuba\u00e7\u00e3o dura geralmente de 3 a 7 dias e um n\u00famero significativo de con\u00eddios pode ser produzido num curto espa\u00e7o de tempo.<\/p><p>A reprodu\u00e7\u00e3o sexual ocorre quando hifas de tipos opostos de acasalamento se encontram e formam cleistotecas. A cleistoteca cont\u00e9m v\u00e1rios ascos, cada um contendo oito asc\u00f3sporos (esporos sexuais). Servem tamb\u00e9m como fontes de hiberna\u00e7\u00e3o, permitindo que o agente patog\u00e9nico sobreviva a condi\u00e7\u00f5es dif\u00edceis. Manchas brancas pulverulentas de mic\u00e9lios e con\u00eddios formam-se nas superf\u00edcies das folhas, pec\u00edolos e caules, tornando-as facilmente reconhec\u00edveis. No in\u00edcio, aparecem manchas castanho-avermelhadas, que se tornam brancas \u00e0 medida que as hifas e os esporos s\u00e3o produzidos mais tarde. Estas col\u00f3nias de fungos coalescem, cobrindo toda a superf\u00edcie. A infe\u00e7\u00e3o pelo o\u00eddio leva \u00e0 redu\u00e7\u00e3o da fotoss\u00edntese, \u00e0 senesc\u00eancia prematura e at\u00e9 \u00e0 morte da planta. Embora os frutos n\u00e3o sejam diretamente ou raramente sejam atacados pelo fungo, podem sofrer deforma\u00e7\u00f5es ou amadurecimento precoce. Estes frutos apresentam uma m\u00e1 capacidade de armazenamento (ab\u00f3bora de inverno), baixos s\u00f3lidos sol\u00faveis com mau sabor (mel\u00e3o), m\u00e1 cor da casca (ab\u00f3bora) e cabos murchos e descoloridos (ab\u00f3boras). Ao atingir hospedeiros suscept\u00edveis, os con\u00eddios germinam na presen\u00e7a de humidade, normalmente com 8 a 24 horas de humidade nas folhas, e penetram nos tecidos das plantas atrav\u00e9s de aberturas ou feridas naturais. O agente patog\u00e9nico persiste entre as esta\u00e7\u00f5es de crescimento nos detritos infestados, actuando como fonte prim\u00e1ria de in\u00f3culo para culturas futuras.<\/p><h3>Sintomas<\/h3><p><em>Alternaria<\/em> As infec\u00e7\u00f5es em cucurbit\u00e1ceas manifestam-se principalmente nas folhas mais velhas, perto da coroa da planta. Os sintomas iniciais incluem manchas pequenas, circulares, de cor castanha com centros brancos na superf\u00edcie superior da folha. Estas manchas aumentam, tornando-se castanhas claras e formando les\u00f5es ligeiramente deprimidas com an\u00e9is conc\u00eantricos, carater\u00edsticas de <em>Alternaria<\/em> infec\u00e7\u00f5es. Uma aur\u00e9ola amarela rodeia as les\u00f5es, que podem eventualmente coalescer, levando a uma necrose e desfolia\u00e7\u00e3o extensas. Em casos graves, isto pode resultar numa redu\u00e7\u00e3o da produ\u00e7\u00e3o e no amadurecimento prematuro dos frutos. O agente patog\u00e9nico pode infetar v\u00e1rias vezes durante uma esta\u00e7\u00e3o de crescimento, levando a uma r\u00e1pida propaga\u00e7\u00e3o da doen\u00e7a e a perdas significativas de culturas. As plantas infectadas murcham e morrem frequentemente em poucos dias, ficando as ra\u00edzes e os caules moles e encharcados. O agente patog\u00e9nico pode tamb\u00e9m infetar as ra\u00edzes de ervas daninhas, complicando os esfor\u00e7os de rota\u00e7\u00e3o de culturas.<\/p><h3>Sintomas<\/h3><p><em>Phytophthora<\/em> O m\u00edldio afecta as cucurbit\u00e1ceas em todas as fases de crescimento, provocando o amortecimento das pl\u00e2ntulas, a podrid\u00e3o da coroa e da videira, manchas nas folhas e a podrid\u00e3o dos frutos. As pl\u00e2ntulas infectadas desenvolvem les\u00f5es encharcadas no hipoc\u00f3tilo, provocando uma r\u00e1pida murchid\u00e3o e morte. As plantas maduras podem apresentar les\u00f5es castanho-escuras, encharcadas de \u00e1gua, nos caules e nas videiras, levando a uma murchid\u00e3o s\u00fabita e ao colapso. As folhas podem desenvolver manchas escuras, encharcadas de \u00e1gua, que se fundem em condi\u00e7\u00f5es de humidade, resultando numa praga extensa. As infec\u00e7\u00f5es nos frutos come\u00e7am como les\u00f5es encharcadas de \u00e1gua, muitas vezes na parte inferior, que se expandem e ficam cobertas de bolor branco, acabando por levar ao colapso dos frutos. O fungo forma mic\u00e9lio, que destr\u00f3i as paredes celulares e se espalha, produzindo bolor cinzento com conidi\u00f3foros.<\/p><p>A infe\u00e7\u00e3o pode ocorrer antes ou depois da colheita, permanecendo os esporos dormentes at\u00e9 ao armazenamento, onde a humidade elevada e as baixas temperaturas desencadeiam um maior crescimento. O fungo propaga-se dos frutos podres para os s\u00e3os, estragando colheitas inteiras. Melhorar a ventila\u00e7\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s de um amplo espa\u00e7amento entre plantas e do desfolhamento ajuda a reduzir a infe\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p><h3>Sintomas<\/h3><p><em>Botrytis cinerea<\/em> Afecta todas as partes a\u00e9reas das cucurbit\u00e1ceas, incluindo folhas, caules e especialmente frutos, formando um bolor cinzento carater\u00edstico.<\/p><p>Nas folhas, aparecem manchas circulares com zonas conc\u00eantricas e uma aur\u00e9ola clor\u00f3tica, come\u00e7ando nos bordos da l\u00e2mina e progredindo para necrose. Os cancros h\u00famidos tamb\u00e9m se podem desenvolver \u00e0 volta dos caules, muitas vezes devido ao arranque das folhas, feridas de colheita ou tecido senescente, levando \u00e0 murchid\u00e3o e \u00e0 morte.<\/p><p>Os frutos, especialmente aqueles em que as p\u00e9talas secas permanecem agarradas, s\u00e3o pontos de entrada vulner\u00e1veis para o fungo. O fungo desenvolve-se em condi\u00e7\u00f5es h\u00famidas e provoca a podrid\u00e3o das pontas. Os frutos infectados apresentam podrid\u00f5es moles t\u00edpicas, com encharcamento de \u00e1gua e o r\u00e1pido aparecimento de massas de con\u00eddios cinzentos.
