sobrevive nos ramos e nos bot\u00f5es de flores, sendo as infec\u00e7\u00f5es dos bot\u00f5es a principal fonte de in\u00f3culo para as flores e folhas emergentes. Na primavera, o fungo liberta esporos dispersos pela chuva e salpicos de \u00e1gua. Os frutos podem ser infectados em qualquer fase de desenvolvimento, embora os sintomas s\u00f3 se tornem vis\u00edveis ap\u00f3s a matura\u00e7\u00e3o do fruto, quando o fungo come\u00e7a a colonizar a \u00e1rea infetada e a produzir enzimas para degradar as paredes celulares, depois de ter permanecido dormente. Os danos celulares resultam em les\u00f5es afundadas e enrugadas na superf\u00edcie do fruto. At\u00e9 mesmo as cachoeiras podem ser infectadas ap\u00f3s a colheita.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h3>Sintomas<\/h3><p>A doen\u00e7a manifesta-se inicialmente como pequenas manchas encharcadas de \u00e1gua nas folhas, que escurecem e aumentam com o tempo. No in\u00edcio da primavera, os con\u00eddios desenvolvem-se na superf\u00edcie exterior das escamas dos gomos e dos rebentos.<\/p><p>As folhas infectadas ficam frequentemente distorcidas e enroladas e as infec\u00e7\u00f5es graves podem levar \u00e0 queda prematura das folhas.<\/p><p>Os sintomas da cereja doce limitam-se aos frutos abortados e aos frutos maduros e saud\u00e1veis. Na casca do fruto produzem-se les\u00f5es castanhas, semelhantes a esteiras, que atingem um di\u00e2metro de 1-2 cent\u00edmetros em poucos dias. Pousam num novo hospedeiro, germinam e formam tubos germinativos e apress\u00f3rios.
