Da un minimo di 250 W\/M\u00b2 nei mesi invernali a oltre 1100 W\/M\u00b2 nei mesi estivi. Insieme alla radiazione solare, naturalmente, si accorcia e si allunga anche il fotoperiodo, e nei mesi estivi il lungo fotoperiodo (lunghezza del giorno) pu\u00f2 accelerare lo sviluppo delle colture nelle regioni a breve distanza dal gelo pi\u00f9 a nord.<\/p><p><strong>La radiazione solare \u00e8 essenziale per la crescita delle piante.<\/strong> Le foglie delle piante assorbono la luce solare e la utilizzano come fonte di energia per la fotosintesi. La capacit\u00e0 di una coltura di raccogliere la luce solare \u00e8 funzione della superficie fogliare o dell'indice di area fogliare. Quando una coltura \u00e8 a chioma piena, la sua capacit\u00e0 di raccogliere la luce solare \u00e8 massima.<\/p><p>Fattori agronomici come la concorrenza delle erbe infestanti, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/metos.global\/it\/insect-monitoring\/\">alimentazione degli insetti<\/a><\/span> o <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/metos.global\/it\/disease-models\/\">malattie delle foglie<\/a><\/span> possono ridurre la superficie fogliare e interferire con la cattura della luce solare da parte delle colture. Le ricerche e le prove sul campo condotte nel corso degli anni hanno identificato il numero di bushel prodotti per ogni pollice o 25 mm di acqua del suolo utilizzato da una coltura. Per alcune colture comuni questo equivale a 5-6 bu per la colza, 7-8 bu per il grano e 10-12 bu di aumento della resa del mais per ogni pollice o 25 mm di acqua aggiuntiva nel terreno.
