Una con la que probablemente est\u00e9 familiarizado es\u00a0<strong>evaporaci\u00f3n<\/strong>Cuando el agua l\u00edquida absorbe suficiente energ\u00eda del sol, se convierte en un gas llamado vapor de agua y se pierde en la atm\u00f3sfera.<\/p><p>Uno que probablemente no conozca bien se llama\u00a0<strong>sublimaci\u00f3n<\/strong>que es el proceso en el que la nieve se convierte directamente en vapor de gas sin pasar por la fase l\u00edquida. Esto ocurre cuando la nieve absorbe energ\u00eda directa del sol, aunque la temperatura pueda estar por debajo del punto de congelaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h3>\u00bfQu\u00e9 hace que un d\u00eda sea bueno para tener grandes p\u00e9rdidas por sublimaci\u00f3n?<\/h3><p>Obviamente, los d\u00edas de cielo despejado y luminoso con alta radiaci\u00f3n solar favorecen las p\u00e9rdidas por sublimaci\u00f3n, pero \u00bfcontribuyen otros factores meteorol\u00f3gicos? Del mismo modo que los d\u00edas con aire seco y vientos provocan mayores tasas de evaporaci\u00f3n, tambi\u00e9n influyen en las tasas de sublimaci\u00f3n. Si la humedad relativa es baja y los vientos son fuertes, las p\u00e9rdidas por sublimaci\u00f3n ser\u00e1n mayores. Pero, en general, es la radiaci\u00f3n solar de un d\u00eda determinado la que realmente impulsa el proceso.<\/p><p>Debemos recordar que en las latitudes septentrionales, a mediados o finales de abril la cantidad de energ\u00eda solar recibida por el sol en un d\u00eda soleado es equivalente a la de principios de agosto. S\u00ed, puede resultar dif\u00edcil de creer, pero la radiaci\u00f3n solar en abril es similar a la de agosto.<\/p><p>El 18 de abril de 2022,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/metos.global\/es\/imetos33\/\">Estaci\u00f3n meteorol\u00f3gica iMETOS 3.3<\/a>\u00a0(instalado en abril de 2018, Canad\u00e1) recib\u00eda 923 vatios\/m2 en un d\u00eda soleado perfectamente despejado. Esto es aproximadamente un mes despu\u00e9s del equinoccio de primavera. Algunos estudios sugieren que, en condiciones ideales, puede llegar a ser de 2 a 4 mm al d\u00eda. En una semana podr\u00edamos perder entre 14 y 28 mm de nieve directamente por sublimaci\u00f3n.<\/p><h3>\u00bfQu\u00e9 significa esto?<\/h3><p>En un a\u00f1o en el que no se dispone de mucha humedad superficial del suelo almacenada para la siembra, cada mm cuenta, por lo que las p\u00e9rdidas por sublimaci\u00f3n, evaporaci\u00f3n y escorrent\u00eda pueden desempe\u00f1ar un papel importante en el balance h\u00eddrico de cualquier lugar. Es importante tener en cuenta que la humedad del suelo se parece mucho a una taza de caf\u00e9. Nos gusta que esa taza est\u00e9 llena al principio de la primavera, para tener agua suficiente en el perfil del suelo para el desarrollo del cultivo.<\/p><p>El mejor lugar para que se produzca la recarga, en condiciones de alimentaci\u00f3n por lluvia, es el oto\u00f1o, cuando los cultivos se han cosechado y las tasas de evaporaci\u00f3n son bajas, por lo que hay poca demanda de humedad del suelo. De este modo sabemos cu\u00e1nto hay en la taza de caf\u00e9 para la pr\u00f3xima primavera.
