Pessl Instruments and FarmBlick are joining forces to unite weather, soil, and crop data on a single platform
Sulzfeld/Weiz, October 28, 2025 – Two of the leading Smart Farming providers, METOS by Pessl Instruments GmbH from Weiz, Austria, and FarmBlick GmbH from Sulzfeld, Germany, are joining forces: In the future, data from the METOS IoT sensor network will flow directly into the FarmBlick Community.
The goal: to unite weather, soil, and crop data on a single platform – without software hopping, without data silos, but with maximum clarity and practical value. Everything at a glance – everything interconnected without duplicate entries.
The planned integration will link METOS weather stations and sensor data from Pessl Instruments with FarmBlick’s operational data ecosystem. Soil scans, soil samples, yields, driving lanes, and application maps will soon be visible on one map, one dashboard, one login. The result is a comprehensive, practice-oriented system that doesn’t just display data in isolation, but interprets it in context – from soil moisture and weather trends to the right field measures.
Why this partnership?
Both partners contribute their unique strengths:
- Pessl Instruments brings decades of experience in field sensor technology, data modeling, high-precision weather forecasting, and global weather data acquisition.
- FarmBlick complements this with practical visualization tools, strong interface integration, and a deep connection to real-world farm processes.
Together, they are creating a system where data and decisions seamlessly interact – a true milestone for Smart Farming.
A look ahead
Technical alignment and concept development are currently underway. A prototype is planned for next year, with the first pilot farms set to test the solution in daily operations.
Planned features include:
- Automatic notifications for drought or disease pressure
- Intelligent map creation from sensor data
- Connected forecast models and interfaces to other agricultural systems
- Trafficability models and machine logistics (where – when – from when?)
Practical benefits
Farmers, advisors, and contractors benefit from:
- Transparency: All relevant data at a glance
- Efficiency: No duplicate data entry, no system switching
- Practical relevance: Decisions can be derived directly from visualized information
The result is a holistic Smart Farming experience that makes fieldwork simpler, more precise, and more economical – true to the FarmBlick motto: smart & easy.
